Vitality 60+
Strength training, mobility, balance, and metabolic conditioning for those 60 and older.
Designed and taught by a physical therapist!
Our new group class starts Monday, September 8th!
Vitality 60+ is a group strength and conditioning class designed and taught by a Doctor of Physical Therapy and one of our long-time coaches, Beth Ansley. This class is designed specifically for adults aged 60 and older who want to focus on functional strength, balance, mobility, and cardiovascular health.
Whether you are a beginner or have experience in the gym, this class will meet you where you are at.
This class focuses on improving:
PHYSICAL vitality by working on functional movements, balance, coordination, agility, mobility, building strength, and metabolic conditioning to help you stay healthy, stay active, and mitigate injuries.
MENTAL vitality through exposure to new movements and skills performed in a safe environment, building confidence and a positive outlook.
EMOTIONAL vitality by managing stress and connecting with others in an inclusive, supportive, community-driven environment.
Strength training over the age of 60 is critical to maintaining your quality of life and independence.
Grip strength is correlated with longevity.
So is the ability to get off the ground without using your hands.
As we age, we lose muscle mass and bone density, BUT that doesn’t mean we should stop training hard. In fact, the older you get, the more important it is to train hard and lift heavy.
The good news is, if you strength train regularly, you CAN continue to build muscle well into your older years, improving your longevity, quality of life, and functional independence.
Why join Vitality 60+?
maintain and build muscle mass to increase your body’s resilience
increase bone density to reduce the risk of fractures and osteoporosis
increase balance, coordination, and agility to help with fall prevention

improve cardiovascular health to decrease chronic disease

What does a Vitality 60+ class look like?
Classes are 1 hour and begin with a whiteboard brief on the “Workout of the Day”. We discuss and demonstrate each movement, and review scaling options and modifications. Each class has a warm-up, strength/skill portion, and a conditioning workout.
WARM-UP
Class begins with a full-body warm-up designed to increase your heart rate and prepare your body for the day’s movement patterns.
STRENGTH/SKILL
The strength movement will differ each class, but will include weight training and bodyweight exercises for the upper and lower body. During this portion of class, we may also work on other skills, like balance and agility. We will make modifications for all lifting abilities and use this time to dial in proper form and technique.
METCON
Class ends with a conditioning piece, or “Metcon”. Here, the goal is to work a variety of energy systems to elevate your heart rate for improved heart function and lung capacity. We incorporate a variety of modalities, like rowing machines, exercise bikes, boxes, kettlebells, and dumbbells, in addition to many others.
Every class prioritizes proper form and technique to ensure safety and a gradual progression over time.
